Whiteboard is a comprehensive digitalization system designed to streamline operations in the education sector. It encompasses solutions for students, teachers, school management, and even point-of-sales systems. As the Product Designer for this project, I was responsible for developing the concept, features, user flows, naming, logo design, and ultimately, creating high-fidelity designs.
This project was particularly exciting for me, as it allowed me to address some of my own concerns about the education system. Through Whiteboard, I had the opportunity to contribute to meaningful changes in this space. The project spanned approximately five months and included the development of mobile applications (Android and iOS), a web admin platform for students, teachers, and point-of-sales management, as well as a landing page website.
The most significant challenge in this project was understanding and addressing the pain points of users and stakeholders in the education sector. Consequently, the most critical phase of the project was conducting thorough research and developing features tailored to their needs. This user-centric approach ensured that the final product effectively addressed the real-world challenges faced by its target audience.
The project began with a research phase, during which I employed several methods, including conducting interviews with teachers and management staff at a private educational institution. From these interviews, I identified common challenges they faced, which then served as the foundation for developing the product's features and overall concept.
The next step was to design the UI concept. Given that this product would be used by various institutions, I adopted a “white label” approach for the UI design. This approach allows the primary color scheme to be customized according to the preferences of each institution. To support this flexibility, I chose neutral colors that could complement a wide range of primary color selections seamlessly.
Building on this UI concept, I sought a name for the product. Drawing inspiration from the whiteboards commonly used in classrooms, I chose the name ”Whiteboard,” as it perfectly encapsulates the product’s essence: a clean, adaptable, and universally relatable tool for education.
Whiteboard is currently being implemented in a private educational institution, where I had the opportunity to conduct interviews as part of the post-production phase. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive: according to the institution, Whiteboard has improved management productivity by 45% and significantly streamlined the teaching and learning process for both teachers and students. This outcome underscores the effectiveness of the system in addressing the specific needs of the education sector.
