PROFILE WEBSITE

UI/UX Designer

BACKGROUND

Oxbridge Institute is an English language education institution focused on providing quality learning services for diverse audiences. They required a website redesign that would be simpler and more direct, making it easy to understand for all user groups. As the UI/UX Designer, I was responsible for independently developing the website’s design concept, with the primary foundation rooted in their logo as the main branding element. Their previous website faced several issues that affected the user experience. The first challenge was an overly complex structure with too many pages, making it difficult for users to grasp key messages quickly. Additionally, the website’s rigid and template-like appearance detracted from the unique and dynamic impression the institution wanted to convey. To address these challenges, I proposed a more dynamic design while maintaining a formal tone appropriate for an educational website. My design approach focused on reducing rigidity, creating simpler navigation, and presenting information in a more concise and to-the-point manner, aligning with the client’s goals.

DESIGN HIGH FIDELITY

The first step I took was conducting research and analysis. I reviewed Oxbridge Institute’s previous website (unfortunately, this could not be documented) and conducted competitive research on similar educational websites. The primary insight I gathered was the importance of creating a website that was as simple and to-the-point as possible, a direction that my client also agreed with. I then analyzed Oxbridge Institute’s visual assets, specifically their logo. From this, I concluded that I wanted to highlight Oxbridge Institute’s alumni and subtly convey that the institute opens doors to the world. To achieve this, I incorporated accents inspired by elements from their logo.

Conclusion

The primary goal of this redesign was to create a website that was simple, easy to understand, and dynamic. Through direct research with the marketing team, I learned that sales increased by 20% following the redesign. Additionally, feedback on user experience revealed that the new website is more effective in accommodating the information the team needs to communicate. This project highlighted the impact of targeted, user-focused design choices, reinforcing the importance of combining simplicity with functionality in future work.
